Observatory on Security and CBRNe Defence

The Observatory on Security and CBRNe Defence is the only Italian organization, which aims at developing and disseminating knowledge related to security, defense and intelligence issues. It considers also the territorial risk with particular attention to natural, accidental or intentional spread of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive materials.

OSDIFE is both a national and international reference for researchers and experts. Furthermore, it contributes to enhance, to develop and to share experience through continuous studies, analysis, research, trainings, workshops, symposiums and publications. Usually, it involves public and private institutions, agencies, organizations, associations, companies and individuals in order to promote and encourage the development and adoption of appropriate strategies and initiatives for risks reduction and mitigation. The main purpose would be to ensure citizens’ security and safety as well as to guarantee both integrity and protection of public and private assets, infrastructures and cultural heritage.

OSDIFE has been recognized as a National Research Institute by the General Directorate for the Coordination and Research Development of the Italian Ministry of University, Education and Research (MIUR). The National Research Registry is the Italian main records concerning Administrations, Institutions as well as both public and private Authorities, which are engaged in scientific and technological research. OSDIFE has been reordered inside the National Research Registry since February 2014 OSDIFE, by signing specific agreements with the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” – Department of Electronic Engineering and the State University of Republic of San Marino – Center for Security Studies, is strongly committed on national and international high level activities in the field of research, education and training.
